Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame due to her roles in films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She has won many awards for her performance which includes an Oscar. Her career began as an actress on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. The actress has had a passion for acting ever since she started school. Her first role in a show in the fifth grade was in Helen Keller. The actress was deaf in one ear after suffering from mumps but did not allow this handicap to hinder her determination to become an actor. When she was in college studying drama, she moved in New York City with her plans to achieve them. Hunter was stuck in an elevator with the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They collaborated to create Broadway Crimes of the Heart in which Hunter made her Broadway debut. She relocated from New York to Los Angeles and tried to get films parts. In Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. Her career spans more than 30 years, and she's been featured in numerous TV shows as well as series and films. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received the Women in Film Lucy Award.
